Cicerina Elaine Sparr was born in Long Bay, St. James, Jamaica on September 24, 1944. She was the fourth child of Una Scott and Lambert Hines. Cicerina was a daddy's girl. While in Jamaica, Cicerina gave birth to four lovely children. After the fourth child, her goal was to leave Jamaica for a better life for the children and herself. The opportunity arose to leave for Nassau, Bahamas in the late 1960's. After careful planning, the choice was made to leave the children with their Grandparents temporarily while she explored her options.
In 1971, she got in touch with her brother Isaac who at the time was living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He provided her with an invitation to join himself and his family for 6 months. After this time, she become comfortable and stable enough to move out and live on her own.
She worked as a live in house keeper and baby sitter before landing a position with the Four Seasons Hotel and Resort. Her starting position was as a housekeeping and soon after, Cicerina became a supervisor for the housekeeping department. In 1975, it was apparent that Cicerina had established herself in Canada to the point that she was able to bring her four children from Jamaica to join her.
In 1977, she again became a mother, giving birth to another son. At this stage in her life, she was both the primary caregiver and provider for all five of her children.
Cicerina was a very kind person, and she was always the first to assist both family in Canada and Jamaica without even a second thought.
Cicerina was a beauty. She took pride in the way she carried herself, in her hair and how it was always neatly done and her makeup the same. Her attire was always clean, crisp and tidy. Cicerina loved to dance, bake, garden and travel.
She is survived by five children, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
