Michelle Clement Homonylo, my wonderful Wife and partner of 22 years, Loving Mother to our 12-year-old Daughter, Claire, lost her long battle with cancer on August 7th, just shy of her 50th birthday. She leaves behind her parents Leo & Joan Clement, siblings Jerome and Cathy, Mother-In-Law Olga Homonylo, and best friend Andrea Kwasnik. As a young woman Michelle taught English in Japan, and after touring SE Asia, caught the travel bug, which she never shook. As a couple we visited France, Honduras, the American south and Canadian Maritimes, and as a family NYC and Chicago. Michelle was road trip junkie, and was planning a US trip to reconnect with family and friends right up until her health failed. A teacher and a mentor, Michelle was an amazing, vibrant inspiration to so many friends and colleagues. She created both a personal and professional legacy that lives on in me and in many of us. She faced her illness as she lived her life, with bravery, compassion, and kindness. Never having lost hope, she selflessly shared her experience with others confronted with the same disease. Michelle laughed like no one else on this earth, and laughed often. She loved to garden. She loved life. And I loved her. As did we all. In lieu of flowers, we¹re asking for donations in Michelle¹s name to the Stedman Community Hospice, who cared for Michelle with the utmost respect and dignity http://www.sjlc.ca/stedman.aspx .
