<div itemprop="description">Joseph Francis Owens <br />May 13, 1919 &ndash; December 31, 2013 <br /> <br />After a long life Joe passed away peacefully in his 95th. year, on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. <br />Loving husband of Isobel for almost 68 years. <br />Dear father of Pat and Susan. <br />One-of-a-kind father in law of Maurice and Stewart. <br />Special grandfather of Joanne (Dave), Sarah, Heidi (Eric) and Nerese. <br />Born in Cork City, Ireland, Joe moved to Liverpool, England at the age of six. At the age of sixteen he joined the British Royal Navy. He served in all the theatres of the Second World War achieving the rank of Petty Officer. Upon retirement in 1982, Joe and Isobel came to Canada to join their families. Joe loved his summer vacations in Midland and winter vacations in the U.S.. We will all miss him, his unique sense of humour and his quick wit. <br />Visitation will be on Sunday, January 05, 2pm to 5pm at Frank Lynett Ltd., 3299 Dundas Street West, Toronto. <br />Funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 07 at 11am at Frank Lynett Ltd., 3299 Dundas Street West, Toronto. <br />Burial will take place after the funeral service at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, Section B, Veteran&rsquo;s Grave 2377. <br />Special thanks to private care givers Cheriel and Rose and all the sixth floor staff at the Castleview-Wychwood Care Home including Doctors Versteeg and Etskorn. <br />Should you wish to donate please consider: <br /> The Joe Sweeney Fund <br /> http://www.on.legion.ca/homeless veterans.asp <br /> c/o The Royal Canadian Legion <br /> Ontario Provincial Command <br /> 89 Industrial Park N <br /> Aurora, ON <br /> L4G 4C4</div>
