After a lengthy vigil kept by family, friends and staff at RHC, Peter died peacefully surrounded by his five daughters on the morning of September 12th. He left his home in Aughavas, Co. Leitrim, Ireland in 1953 and with his beloved Maeve (Margaret) built a great life in Toronto, where they were lifelong members of the Irish Aid and Cultural Society and St Cecilia’s parish. Peter enjoyed 33 years driving for the TTC, followed by 9 years with Go Transit.
He leaves his daughters and their families: Carmel (Robert), Una (Ray), Joanne (Jim), Nora, Paula (Ken) and his grandchildren, Rory (Anna), Patrick, Maeve, Liam, Darragh, Colin, Emmet, Edel, Declan, Saoirse, Cavan and great grandson Cillian, Ricardo and Jataya. Predeceased by his brothers Frank and Pat. He will be deeply missed also by his sisters Maura and Teresa, in-laws, nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends in Ireland, USA, and Canada. Sincerely grateful to the kind and caring nurses and staff at Runnymede Healthcare Centre. Visitation at the Lynett Funeral Home(3299 Dundas St W, 1 block east of Runnymede Rd.) on Monday, September 15, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A funeral mass will take place at St. Cecilia’s Church on Tuesday at 11 am. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Donations to Runnymede Health Care Centre would be greatly appreciated.
