Josephine Bondi (nee Scolaro)
November 29, 1920 – January 1, 2016

Josephine passed peacefully and with grace, from the loving embrace of her children into the open arms of our Heavenly Father, on the morning of January 1st, 2016 in her 96th year. She is joyously reunited with her loving husband of 56 years, Cosmo (2006). Devoted and cherished mother to Nataline, Josephine and her husband Elio Garofalo, Mary Anne and her husband Ken Cousineau. Grandma’s bright spirit will live on in the hearts of her treasured grandchildren, Maria (Dave Collia), Christopher (Vanessa), Elio Jr. (Sara), Andrea (Adam Russell), Laura (Sean Hunt), Marc (Kelsey), Paul and Mathew, who were loved, nurtured, guided and celebrated by her every day of her life. ‘GG’ adored her great grandchildren, Alessia, Daniela, Julian, Milena, Nicolas and Cosmo (with one more arrival to come in the spring), and took great pleasure in witnessing their antics. Josephine will be deeply missed by her brother Anthony Scolaro, his wife Provi, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Mom fully embraced life as she worked alongside her parents, husband, brother and sister-in-law in the family business, Jim Scolaro’s Fruit Store, located in Bloor West Village for over 45 years. She did it all - customer service, accountant, sign maker, greeter, buyer/receiver, payroll, and HR manager, while raising three daughters – a true renaissance woman! Mom enjoyed ‘cruising’ and traveling to many new destinations with dad. Mom’s genuine interest in others, her friendly nature and radiant smile endeared her to everyone whose path she crossed. She was a woman of extraordinary grace and faith. She was a proud member of the Confaternita della Immacolata which exemplified her devotion to Mother Mary. The love of her family was at the heart of everything she did – we were loved and she was loved. Her legacy will continue in each generation to follow.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who were instrumental in allowing our mother to live her final days in the comfort of her home, especially Sheryl, mom’s primary caregiver who became like a daughter to mom and a sister to us.

Visitation will take place at Lynett Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas Street West (1 block east of Runnymede Rd.), Toronto (416 767 1176) from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday January 6th and from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday January 7th. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Road, Etobicoke, Ontario. Interment is at Mount Peace Cemetery, Mississauga. For those who wish, donations may be made to the: Villa Colombo Ladies Auxiliary “in memory of Josephine Bondi”, 40 Playfair Ave. Toronto, Ontario, M6B 2P9.
For God so loved the world,
That He gave His only begotten Son,
whosoever believed in Him
should not perish
but have everlasting life.
